Ari Van Twillert
As a designer, Lidewij van Twillert wants strives for people to fall in love with her designs and cherish them. She wants people to cherish them so that if it breaks, they will be repaired. In this way, a garment or product automatically becomes sustainable because it is not simply thrown away. In her collections she tells stories about societal challenges such as climate change, fast fashion and mental health. Her collections are therefore about creating a strong connection between wearer and garment so it will be easy for people to cherish their clothing instead of using it as a disposable item.
With her technical background (TU Delft master) she thinks traditional crafts(wo)manship should not be forgotten but reinforced with 21st century technologies. Her lingerie is handmade in her studio in De Wasserij. In addition to underwear, she also makes 3D printed jewelry that matches the lingerie, so that you can still show something of what you wear under your clothes.
